New
Security Guard Unarmed Training Verification form for 2010
Please use the new
unarmed training
verification form. The new form requires the signature of the
security guard, the training instructor and the qualifying party or resident
manager.
Armed Training
Verification Due For 2009!
Every calendar year after the issuance of the Armed Security Guard license, an armed guard must have 8 hours of refresher training from a DPS-Certified firearms instructor. When training is completed, the signed ARMED Security Guard Training Verification
form must be provided to
the DPS Licensing unit. It may be dropped off, mailed or faxed to the Licensing Unit. Forms for 2009 training must be received at DPS no later than January
31, 2010.
If the 2009 training verification form is not received by this deadline, the Armed Security Guard
registration(s) will be suspended.
A reinstatement fee of $25.00 and sixteen hours of firearms training will then be required
to reverse the suspension.

Overview
The Licensing Unit operates under authority of the State of Arizona Security Guards law, Arizona Revised Statute 32-2601 through 32-2642 and Private Investigators law, Arizona Revised Statute 32-2401 through 32-2461 and Arizona Administrative Rules Title 13, Chapters 2 and 6.
The Licensing Unit regulates security guards, security agencies, private
investigators and private investigative agencies. Additionally, the unit accepts
complaints from the public and enforces statutory laws and administrative rules
pertaining to those entities.
